Benghazi Media Wars

After Fox News released its investigative report yesterday, surrounding the September 11, 2012 attacks on the American consulate and annex in Benghazi, Libya, the Associated Press puts out a story that CBS released at 6:32 pm ET today.

Nothing is more abhorrent to a citizenry of a nation than to be lied to by their government. When the media, who are supposed to be the public watchdog of the wrong-doings of government, make themselves transparent in their efforts to cover-up lies and deception, or spin something that appears to be order out of chaos, it leaves a nation divided – the misinformed vs. the informed.

While AP conducts its own internal investigation of the Benghazi situation, speaking to “witnesses”, they say their investigation turned up “[t]here was no sign of a spontaneous protest against an American-made movie denigrating Islam’s Prophet Muhammad. But a lawyer passing by the scene said he saw the militants gathering around 20 youths from nearby to chant against the film. Within an hour or so, the assault began, guns blazing as the militants blasted into the compound.”

A nation already heading to the polls to vote in this years presidential election is not only seeing media wars about facts, as they are between the presidential candidates, but they are demanding truth and action.

AP states they gathered “witness accounts… from-the-ground perspective for the sharply partisan debate in the U.S. over the attack…”

The people are not naive. What this has come down to is information pertaining to the weapons passed out to the militants fighting against Qaddafi, the deaths of four (4) Americans, the “stand down” order, and why there has been so much backpedaling and avoidance by this administration whenever confronted with real questions surrounding Benghazi.

The people do not need more spin. Where is Nakoula Basseley Nakoula? Why hasn’t the media been writing about him since mid-late September? Why did the Muslim uprising take over four (4) months after the film’s release to riot over it? Why did the administration immediately blame then apologize for this film via televised ads in Pakistan? Who is actually behind Nakoula’s making of this film and its existence to the Muslim world?

Questions the media, by lead of President Obama and his administration, asked were answered with reference to “the film”. In this the media failed for well over a month because they didn’t ask the hard questions such as, Why was our embassy and consulate not closed down like the British embassy? Why was Ambassador Stevens still in Libya? Why were multiple requests for more security denied? Why was a mediocre security level dropped to almost a minuscule amount? Why were requests for military aid during the attacks denied? Why was aid that was offered told to “stand down”? And why are there now have four (4) Americans dead?

Contrary to some media hype brought on by the current administration, Benghazi is not about a “heated presidential campaign” to the people. It always has been about a “transparent government” promised to the people during someone’s 2008 election campaign. The truth is all that matters. Let the consequences fall where they may, so long as it is no longer on the people.

Due to multiple re-writes of articles posted online, the AP/CBS story is on the next page, in its entirety at the time of this writing.
