[laist.com] A man committed suicide this afternoon by jumping off the roof of The Standard Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. LAPD Officer Sara Faden told LAist the death occurred at 3:49 p.m. this afternoon, and that it has been confirmed as a suicide.

Sixth street was shut down between Hope and Flower while police investigated. Social media was full of questions, including photos of the body lying on the sidewalk under a white sheet.

The hotel did not offer many details, but did say that the rooftop is closed for the time being.
